dc.description.abstractElectro-deposition of undercoating has become general for a present-day car paint shop. In ED, charged particles from the paint emulsion move to Anode (positive cgarg) or Cathode (negative charge) under electrical energy. The immediate DC established through the bath makes the color and tar base of the paint depart towards the body surfaces. Coating arrives at all the recessed regions. The stored film does not re-dissolve.But, the un-deposited material is rinsed. Ultra filtrate (UF) gear is used for ED paint in component separation of those not shaping film and renewal of Paints. Stored film after applying heat becomes a sturdy, durable polymeric film. Clients nowadays request greater quality and durability from the products they purchase. Besides the fact that they anticipate that these items should perform well, however they believe the completion should look great and resist corrosion for longer period. This finishing system is designed which is called electrocoating. (E-coating). E-coating is a technique of painting that uses electrical flow to store the paint. The method functions on the concept of "Opposites Are inclined toward one another". This process is also referred to as electro deposition (ED). Arlt, Klaus. (1994). Cathodic deposition of paint. In the past 15 years, high transfer efficiency together with a high degree of automation and high environmental acceptability, combined with excellent film properties, have made cathodic electro-deposition (CED) of paint the most important priming method in car manufacturing.In the introductory part, these different aspects will be highlighted and the history of priming car bodies will be explained with special emphasis being laid on the different stages of cathodic EC development. The different paint layers normally applied to car bodies will also be introduced and discussed.The main part of the paper explains the fundamentals of the chemistry of cathodic deposition of paint and the principles of the application process. The current status of cathodic electro deposition will be examined with respect to application, film properties, film curing behaviour and also taking into account some engineering details. Finally, the current research and development activities as well as future developments will be presented.en_US
